Biographies

Debra Frielle,
Corporate Faculty

Dr. Frielle comes to Harrisburg University with 10 years of teaching experience at Elizabethtown College and Franklin and Marshall College. Her interests include the interactions that occur between a virus and its host cell during both lytic and long-term infection. Her postdoctoral research at Duke University examined the inhibition of processing of cellular RNAs, particularly mRNA and snRNAs, which occurs during viral infection. She earned her doctorate degree in Virology at the University of Pittsburgh where she investigated the evolution of influenza A virus during long term persistent infections. Debra received a BS in Biochemistry and an MS in Anaerobic Bacteriology from Va Tech. Her research experience included studying the mechanism of antibiotic resistance in the anaerobic bacteria Bacteroides fragilis.
