Public and private partners provide the philanthropic investments, internships, mentoring and other innovative collaborative efforts that fuel both our students’ success and our growth. This is a University born of the community and it is taking root in the region and across the Commonwealth. Our partners understand that investments in Harrisburg University are investments in highly critical Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines, and position our region—and our nation—to be a competitive force in the global economy. We are deeply grateful to all of our partners for their vision, leadership and commitment to our students. Regional organizations such as Gannett Fleming, the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania, GeoDecisions, and Commerce Bank helped write, develop, and teach our programs. Others provide lab space and research opportunities. Still others—Hershey Company, PPL, Penn National Insurance, Wachovia Foundation, to name a few—provide scholarship support. Business Mentor Program
Others support our students by participating in our Business Mentor Program. We pair all students with a business mentor. Together they network at professional events and mixers, and visit businesses and organizations related to their fields of study. Mentors guide students, simultaneously building their confidence and contacts. If you wish to mentor a student, contact us at 717.901.5140.
Internships & Projects
Our staff works closely to match students with regional businesses, so we can connect their class work to related work experiences. We are one of only a few universities in the nation that utilizes a top executive search and staffing firm to facilitate internships for our students. Arcus, LLC, interviews our students, helps with their resume preparation, and even markets them to prospective employers. This gives students access to exceptional internship opportunities that lead to long-term employment after graduation.
Organizations offering internships to our students include GeoDecisions, ProSanos Corporation, Pinnacle Health, Highmark, Arcus LLC, Versatile Systems Inc., County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania, PSECU, Dauphin County Coroner’s Office, and The Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania. Corporate Faculty
In addition to our academic professors, we connect students to “corporate faculty” who come to campus with extensive professional expertise in our competitive fields of study. They may be CEOs, project leaders, research scientists, or clinicians. Their experience and wisdom enables our students to see how their education applies to the career world.
