SANS is the leading organization for information security training, research and certification in the world. SANS and Harrisburg University will host the SANS Institute 6-day boot camp style training, April 20-25, 2009.

  • National Mentoring Month: Share What You Know. Become a Mentor.
    January marks National Mentoring Month (NMM), and Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is taking part in the campaign. Spearheaded by the Harvard Mentoring Project, MENTOR, and the Corporation for National and Community Service, the month highlights mentoring and the positive impact it can have on young lives. It also focuses national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us—individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, and nonprofits—can work together to increase the number of mentors and assure brighter futures for our young people.

    Science and technology-related milestones and anniversaries for January: January is International Wayfinding Month, celebrating the spatial and environmental information systems that help you find your way. It’s also National Clean Up Your Computer Month, dedicated to the education of computer users with simple tips and methods to increase the efficiency of their systems.

  • OneCard Gives Something Back
    Members of the University received the new OneCard today. The new OneCard provides students, staff, and faculty the security and convenience of carrying a single multipurpose card to be used for a variety of campus and community services. The OneCard can be used for access to the new Academic Center, Parking, Vending, University Services, and local area businesses, with an emphasis on the downtown. The OneCard also features the Give Something Back Network, which contributes funds to a scholarship at the University and support other non-profit organizations.

  • Managing Quality in Software Development
    Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is responding to market demands from project managers seeking opportunities to expand their areas of expertise into new specialties with a series of professional development opportunities that are schedule to take place during 2008-2009. Managing Quality in Software Development is part of the University’s Beyond Project Management: Building Leadership and Performance Professional Development Series. The session is scheduled for Friday, January 23.

    Mark Wednesday, February 25 on your calendar and make plans to attend the Dedication Ceremony for the new Academic Center. Plans call for the event to begin at 4 p.m., on the 11th Floor of the Academic Center. Planning for the event is now underway. More details will appear shortly on the University’s website.   • 2009 Biotechnology Showcase
    The Capital Area Biotechnology Partnership 2009 Biotechnology Showcase will be held March 20 at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. The theme for this year’s event is Biotechnology, Agriculture, and Food Science. The annual event brings together industry, educators as well as high school and college students. The free event features hands-on experiments, workshops, panel discussions, guest speakers, and other presentations. With its program of lectures, expert discussions, presentations and networking opportunities, the Biotechnology Showcase has become a flagship event for students, educators, and industry.
